ABOUT SRI LANKA

Set in the Indian Ocean in South Asia, the tropical island nation of Sri Lanka has a history dating back to the birth of time. It is a place where the original soul of Buddhism still flourishes and where nature’s beauty remains abundant and un-spoilt.
Few places in the world can offer the traveler such a remarkable combination of stunning landscapes, pristine beaches, captivating cultural heritage and unique experiences within such a compact location.

SURF INFO

The best time for surfers to go to Sri Lanka is from April through to October.  Ocean swells are consistent 4-7 feet and wind conditions are ideal. However, during this time, surfers from many nations flock to Arugam Bay on the East Coast of the island and also called the surf Mecca of Sri Lanka. If you do not count to those who love the hassle of surfing with 70 plus people in the water, then you might want to consider the south and southwestern coastline of Sri Lanka which has plenty of secret and undiscovered surf spots on offer that work during its peak and off-season alike.

FACTS ABOUT SRI LANKA

Capital: Colombo

Language: Sinhala and Tamil. English is used often.

Climate: Sri Lanka is tropical, with distinct dry and wet seasons. The seasons are slightly complicated by having two monsoons. From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half, while the dry season here lasts from December to March.

Best time to travel: Climatically speaking, the driest (and best) seasons in Sri Lanka are from December to March for the west coast, the south coast and the Hill Country, and from April to September for the ancient cities region and the east coast.

Health: In some parts of the country, and in some seasons, malaria-carrying mosquitos are present. Standard malaria treatments guard against this risk, but actual cases of malaria are very rare.

Travel insurance: We highly recommend travel insurance (Please ask a consultant for a copy of the policy we recommend).

Visa: You can buy a visa upon arrival at the airport in Colombo.
