Capital: Windhoek
Language: English 7% (official), Afrikaans common language of most of the population and about 60% of the white population, German 32%. indigenous languages: Oshivambo, Herero, Nama
Best time to travel: Most visitors prefer to travel during the months May to October. It hardly ever rains and the visitor can enjoy the uninterrupted sunshine. The climate is moderate and during the day it does not get extremely hot. Nevertheless it can get very cold in the evenings.
Health: The following vaccinations are recommended: Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio. A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is only required for travellers coming from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. Malaria is prevalent in most areas. Drink only bottled water and it is essential take travel insurance and a medical kit.

Visa: No visa is required for South African passport holders and most other nationalities
