About Costa Rica

Costa Rica, officially the Republic of Costa Rica, is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Ecuador to the south of Cocos Island. It has a population of around 4.5 million, of whom nearly a quarter live in the metropolitan area of the capital and largest city, San José.

Costa Rica is a well-known and well-developed surfing destination. The country is safe, beautiful, friendly, and blessed with great surfing on both coasts.

Surfing can be broken into three main areas: The Pacific North (Guanacaste-Nicoya), the Pacific South (Punta Arenas), and the Caribbean. Surf towns are developing in places such as Jaco, Tamarindo, and Puerto Viejo. Year round warm water, warm air, and offshore breezes (in Guanacaste) make for great conditions.
