Introduction
The surf potential of this 100km stretch of coastline is staggering. Ponta is reasonably well known for it’s long, sand bottom walls and warm water. Inhaca much less so because it is such a mission to access without a boat. Inhaca first point or what is known as ‘The Wreck” to those who have visited it, is a seriously full-on, top to bottom, barrel over a shallow reef. Sound good? Read on

The mission
This time of year and on that tide cycle you have a fair to good chance of scoring fun to great waves at both Ponta and Inhaca. Where Ponta can be challenging it is usually quite forgiving. Inhaca when it is fun is already challenging. When it is on it is serious. What lies in the 100km or so between these two breaks? Well, you are going to go and find out. If you look at the google earth imagery of this stretch of coastline there are no less than 10 right hand point breaks from Ponta to Inhaca. This excludes various reef break options and an insane amount of open beach break options.

Crowds?
The only place you can expect to see anyone else surfing is possibly at Ponta. Think about that. On your last Mentawis trip how many people did you share the lineup with? On this stretch of coast it will just be you on the boat.

Logistics
The Angra Pequena can steam from Ponta to Inhaca in 8-9hrs if the weather is inclement. Despite the number of points this is a wild and exposed coastline. Ideally at this time of year you should get some mellow days so hopefully you can take our time on the way up there or the way back to explore the set ups in between Ponta and Inhaca. The days on the boat are flexible. If there is really bad weather you can shift the boat trip a couple of days either way within the window.

Extra activities
Fishing, spearfishing, freediving, SCUBA, (tanks provided, bring your own gear though), are all available to supplement the primary mission of finding and riding cooking, deserted waves. We’ll also do a bit of exploration on land at both Ponta and Inhaca Island while we seek to sample the local cuisine and culture.
