“Hi True Blue Travel

Hands down my best trip was to Karang Nyimbor – organised by True Blue. I was living and working in Jo’burg at the time, and my boet  traveled up from Cape Town. I remember the excitement as we met at the airport – boardbags in tow and nothing but baggies and T’s for luggage.

Every morning was paradise. We would get up at sunrise savour the local Sumatran coffee while watching the perfect peeling waves out front. There was no rush, no where to be, no time limit on how when your session would end.

We hired an old van and missioned up and down the coast, checking epic empty bays and setups along the way. We had some fun sessions at Krui, where I remember riding a wave while checking a school of brightly coloured parrot fish swimming underneath. It was just the two of us out that day with waist to head high waves but setting up perfectly on the reef.

Days blurred into each other, and although it was only 10 days, the memory feels like eternity. Memories like this are priceless.
