Exploring the Channel Island…
Leaving the relative safety of Bali is something to always consider and weigh up, especially when travelling with small kids. You leave the semi first-world amenities and medical set ups behind by island hopping and exploring in most other parts of Indo, other than the bigger cities of course.
So we set off for the Channel Island. It’s not totally remote, but still a good day’s worth of travel from Bali.
Taxi, Ferry, Fast boat, taxi and local island truck got us here tired and a little ratty. Ryder who is 5, had not been feeling well as it was.
The set up here is insane even though it’s more secluded than the neighbouring bigger island.
The sunsets are amazing and the surf out front was pumping – 3 to 4 foot on day one and a solid 8 feet on day 2 ( just me out for most of the morning, with one other Saffa who also made it out for a while 🙂
I lucked into an evening surf at a great little A frame about 30 min away too. Stoked.
Ryder went down hard and sick for 2 days after that and is still down… not nice for parents – but as we have direct contact with our local Operator in Bali, he got the local Doctor out to us and we are looking and hoping all good and recovery for tomorrow…. THIS IS WHY you book through an operator like us – no sales pitch, just fact. You get the direct contacts for help, medical assistance and more…. It’s priceless! I just proved that.
So tomorrow is a new day and I think we will head back to Bali in 2 days or so….. but tomorrow a surf and the day after a Manta Snorkel trip, if all goes to plan that is… but with kids keeping you on your toes – you just never know…
