French goverened Reunion Island is the ideal place in which to recover from stress or burn-out. There is much more to this beautiful island than sun-drenched, reef-ringed beaches and cooking waves! Its towering mountains, of volcanic origin, reach up to 3 000 metres and offer some of the most beautiful views..
The west coast of the island offers some of the best waves in the Indian Ocean and due to its perfect latitude, it receives consistent swells and great tropical weather. Most of the thirty reported surf spots on the west coast, break on fragmented barrier reefs, quite a distance from the beach. There are also a few average black sand beach breaks, as well as the popular white sand sunbathing beaches of Roches Noires and Boucan. Best time to avoid Reunion is January to March as this is the peak season for cyclones.
