SOUTH COAST Surf information
The breaks vary from rock and reef to sand bottom points – all depending on the time of the year. Beach breaks are in abundance for the shorter days and also consist of rock, reef and sand. The best time of the year is the winter months (March to July) as the south west swell accompanied with northerly and westerly winds make for epic point break conditions.
Also one must make an early start in the mornings to ensure peak surfing time. A knowledge of the tides is essential as most of the points enjoy the lower tides.
These areas are all accessible, but a knowledge of the breaks is required due to shifting banks and swell conditions.
