St Gilles is reknown for its white sand beaches and many locals and tourists head to this quaint part of the western coast for suntanning and swimming. There are plenty of bars and local restaurants buzzing during holidays and weekends and all have a French and Creole vibe. St Gilles is also a more tropical area in comparison to the rugged volcanic parts of the island. There are also plenty waves around this area as well as an array of activities such as snorkeling in and around the coral reefs.
