South Sumatra is a semi secret! It's talked about and even written about, yet details are sketchy and info is not detailed or direct. And that’s just the way we like it.
Situated deep in the southern jungles of Sumatra, this fairly remote and less visited area has some macking, epic surf. After flying into Jakarta on the island of Java, it’s an adventurous hour long flight plus a crazy 5 hour jungle drive to an area relatively close to Krui. This is a land based Mentawai type set up – just as consistent, fewer crowds but way more affordable.
This section of about 150 km of coast, is home to beautiful volcanos, beaches and jungle. It is also home to some cooking point breaks, reefs, slabs and beachies.
True Blue has recently visited and surfed the area, and personally gives it an A+ for surf quality, size, consistency and lack of crowds. It's not an area for the faint hearted, and there are no "larney" resorts.
We have located 2 great losman-style Camps/Lodges, that are western and locally run, and offer fairly basic accommodation, with an option of upgrading to the newer and nicer fan or aircon rooms and bungalows right in front of the longest and most consistent cooking left point in the area, Ujung Bocor (Karang Nyimbor).

The area picks up alot of swell, has few crowds, works year round, although March until October is best and has more than 10 quality breaks within an hour or so drive.
Let True Blue book your entire package from South Africa or let us just arrange your local flights, transfers and accommodation in the area. Chat to us and let us tell you about the sites, accommodation and the waves and get a consultant to send you some epic photos. Get here now, before the rest of the surfing world discovers the secret!
