Mango Beach is right on the beach, but all houses are tucked behind a dune, so you walk up some stairs to get to the Beach Bar, Restaurant and the beach. There is a large reef that runs in front of the lodge creating a natural rock pool that is awesome to wallow in without having to brave the waves and of course perfectly safe for kids.
There are 3 types of accommodation to choose from:
Bushcamp- This is for travellers are a tighter budget and don't mind roughing it a bit. It is like camping but(no tents required) as you stay in the bushcamp huts. There is a lean shared ablution block with hote water, a shared kitchen and central boma under which to relax and share the day' fun with friends.
Cabana accommodation - This cabana sleep 4 people (single beds) in 1 large airy room. The private veranda is surrounded by greenery and has a table and 4 chairs. There is a clean shared ablution block with hot water and well equipped central kitchen.
Casa accommodation - This option sleeps 6 in 2 bedrooms (double bed in 1 bedroom and two singles in the other bedroom) plus 2 single beds in the lounge area that double as couches in the day. the Casa's also have an outdoor dining area, little private garden with braai, equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer and gas cooker and a bathroom with hot water and undercover parking for 1 car. There are only 3 Casas available to be booked.
The bar is open all day and most of the night, but the restaurant does not serve breakfasts and lunches unless by prior arrangement. There are amazing dinners consisting mostly of seafood: prawns, crayfish, barracuda, clams and whatever is caught earlier on that day.
MANGO BEACH LODGE - activities
Tofo is world famous for the various reefs nearby and the superb diving sites. See Giant Manta, Whale Sharks, sea turtles and a whole underwater wonder-world. There are 3 Scuba operators in the area and all very professional with friendly and enthusiastic dive masters and instructors. Snorkelling in the area is great. You can do a little bit off the rock reef at Mango Beach, but for serious snorkellers, an Ocean Safari with one of the scuba companies is fantastic! You will be dropped off with the whale sharks so you can swim with them which is an experience of a life time!
A new adventure in the area is a trip around the bay in a microlight. If you want to horse ride, take a romantic sunset walk along the beach.
