The reserve is a 67 hectare garden at the foot of the St Louis peak. In this reserve one can find many endemic plants along with several species of lemurs, tortoises, chameleons and crocodiles. River trips are also available to explore the area. Two dwelling houses and a good restaurant accommodate guests in the reserve.

The outstanding service of the ecotourism guides will long be remembered upon your return home. They will help you discover the different lemurs species, Makis, brown lemurs and the many endemic plants (among which include Didieraceas - cacti-shaped trees).

There are 2 room categories: 3 rooms in the colonial house which was built in 1912. These rooms are full of charm and have direct access to the restaurant but have a shared bathroom. There are 5 newly built rooms as well with all comforts, and a refined contemporary decor.
The accommodation facilities include fans, shower, hot and cold water, table lamp and mosquito nets.

Access to the Reserve is easy and is only 7 km's to the east of the city. It is a smooth, flat ride except when crossing the dunes, and actually is often carried out by tourists with bicycles!

This reserve has been lovingly rehabilitated over the past few years and is one of Fort Dauphin's little gems. A must see for all adventure, hiking or wildlife enthusiasts. The lemurs are amazing creatures and viewed in their natural habitat is something that cannot be missed.
